A Winning Tradition & A Living Legacy

Athletics has always been a cornerstone of life at St. Edwards Secondary School.

From May Park to international arenas, Edwardians have built a proud tradition of excellence in sports, developing discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience that extend far beyond competition.

Our athletic heritage reflects the spirit of St. Edwards: striving for excellence, supporting one another, and representing our school with honor.

A Winning Tradition

St. Edwards Secondary School has produced some of Sierra Leone’s most accomplished athletes, including Olympians, world-class competitors in Track & Field, and professional footballers who have represented the nation on the international stage.

This legacy is rooted in:

•    Committed student-athletes
•    Knowledgeable and caring coaches
•    The historic May Park grounds
•    Strong support from faculty, students, alumni, and community

Athletics at St. Edwards is not only about winning—it is about character, perseverance, teamwork, and pride in representing our Alma Mater.

Athletics as Student Development

Sports play a vital role in shaping well-rounded students.

Through athletics, Edwardians learn to:

•    Work as a team
•    Lead with humility and confidence
•    Manage success and adversity
•    Build physical fitness and mental resilience
•    Develop lifelong habits of discipline and wellness

Participation in sports strengthens both body and mind while reinforcing values that guide students throughout their lives.

Rebuilding Athletic at May Park

As part of the Joint Chapter Consolidated Modernization Project and Edwardian Endowment initiatives, alumni and partners are actively working to restore and upgrade athletic facilities at May Park.

These efforts include:

•    Rehabilitation of playing fields
•    Support for organized sports programs
•    Expansion of inter-house competitions
•    Improved equipment and training environments

Our goal is to once again provide student-athletes with safe, modern spaces that inspire excellence and teamwork.
